The Flocked Greensboro is a heavily flocked budget tree that actually looks snowy instead of dusty. The flocking stays put during setup and doesn't create a trail of white residue across your house. The color-changing LED system gives you options between clear and multicolor lighting with various effects, though you're cycling through modes manually. It's fuller than most budget flocked trees, making it a solid choice if you want the winter aesthetic without spending premium money.
- Heavy flocking coverage that stays on the tree instead of shedding everywhere
- Fuller than most budget flocked trees—doesn't look sparse
- Color-changing LEDs with 8 effects give you lighting flexibility
- Easy assembly with minimal mess
- Available in both full and pencil shapes
- Some units have light malfunctions—quality control is inconsistent
- No remote or timer—you're manually cycling through the 8 light modes
- Traditional PVC under the flocking (expected at this price, but not realistic-looking)
The Flocking Reality
The heavy flocking is the main thing here. It's not a light dusting—it's substantial snow coverage that creates an actual winter tree look. The flocking quality is better than it needs to be at this price point. When you're setting it up and fluffing branches, it stays on the tree instead of creating a mess.
The pencil version we saw in person has thicker branch tips that hold the flocking well—almost pine-like in character. The heavy snow coverage works with this to create a tree that reads as "snow-covered" rather than "fake tree with white stuff on it." The full shapes share the same flocking approach, just with a wider profile and more ornament space.
If you've dealt with cheap flocked trees that shed white particles everywhere, this is noticeably better. Not perfect, but better.
Living with Color-Changing Lights
The 8 light modes sound gimmicky, but they're actually useful in practice. You can go traditional white for most of the season, switch to multicolor for certain occasions, or use the fading/alternating effects if that's your thing. Each mode has a different combination of clear and multicolor, steady and animated.
The problem: no remote, no timer, no app. You're walking up to the tree and cycling through modes manually. Want to go from mode 1 to mode 8? You're hitting the button 7 times. It's the kind of thing that seems fine until you're doing it for the third time in a week.
The foot pedal on the larger sizes helps with basic on/off, but you still need to reach the control box to change modes. For the price, it's acceptable. Just know what you're getting into.
Setup & Quality Concerns
Assembly is straightforward—stack the sections, fluff the branches, plug in. Plan on 30-45 minutes depending on size. The flocking holds up well during this process, which is a relief because some flocked trees are a disaster to set up.
The metal stands are adequate. Nothing fancy, but they do the job. The pencil version is particularly stable given its narrow profile.
Here's the real issue: some units have light problems. Either they arrive non-functional or develop issues after a season. It's not everyone, but it happens enough that multiple reviewers mention it. This is budget-tier manufacturing from Holiday Living, and quality control isn't as tight as premium brands. The 2-year warranty provides some protection if you get a bad unit, but dealing with returns is still a hassle.
Who This Is For
This tree makes sense if you want the flocked winter aesthetic without spending $300+. The flocking quality punches above its price point, and the color-changing lights are a nice bonus if you want versatility. Available in multiple sizes and both full/pencil shapes, so you can find something that fits your space.
The pencil versions are legitimately space-saving—good for corners, hallways, secondary rooms, or alongside a main tree. The full versions give you a traditional tree profile at budget pricing.
But be realistic about what you're buying. This is traditional PVC under the flocking, not a realistic PE tree. The light reliability is a concern. And you're manually cycling through light modes without remote/timer convenience.
Get this if: You want a heavily flocked tree at a budget price, can work around the manual light controls, and are okay with some quality lottery on the lights. The flocking itself delivers.
Skip this if: You need guaranteed reliability (the light QC issues are real), you want premium construction, or you need smart controls/timer functions. Also skip if you're looking for realistic branch structure—the flocking masks it, but underneath it's budget PVC.
